A REAL MIND-OPENER!To me, this book occupies a similar sphere as David Korten's WHEN CORPORATIONS RULE THE WORLD. The difference is that Winters includes spiritual principles and links them to a futuristic economic social system which he presents as an absolute possibility if we can only expand our minds and rise above the old patterns of thought that have conditioned us over the years. Whether or not you agree with all of its premises, THE WINTERS PLAN stirs the imagination of the reader and challenges him or her to tear down the box, to think creatively and to visualize how the world could be if we turn from greed and lust for power to principles of love and true spirituality. The author offers an ideal of a "society based on governing itself through Wisdom and Education"--a society that recognizes the value of human potential and love for others.
Taking a stand in his imagination as having been elected President of the U.S., Winters then proposes his Ten-Year Plan for the Rebuilding of America, including doing away with the Federal Reserve System and personal income tax. His proposals are ingenious and, in my opinion, would be welcomed by a majority of the citizens. (I think most of us are pretty tired of politicians and the way things work now.) Winters goes on to give detailed imaginative proposals for changes in Congress; in how our representatives are elected; in the business and investment community; and in education, health care, and the environment. The changes he suggests are a radical departure from what we now call our "democratic" way of government--Winters' ideas illustrate just how far we have fallen from the original concepts of our founding fathers. As you read, you realize (if you didn't already) how controlled we are by our government and how little freedom we actually enjoy.
The Constitution of the Earth at the end of the book is a blueprint for empowerment of the people. Stating that it is just a rough framework to which others can contribute, he requests readers to write him with their own suggestions for a Constitution of Earth's people.
I came away from reading THE WINTERS PLAN with a new feeling of idealism and hope. I felt uplifted, encouraged, and optimistic that we can make changes to benefit all of our planet's citizens (including animals and all kinds of wildlife). Winters shows that we can do things differently...and that there still is hope for humanity.
